Movie Maker 2 turning off when I select a transition

I am trying to use Movie Maker 2, but every time I select
a transition and drag it down to the timeline as soon as I
drop it on the transition box Movie Maker 2 turns off.

I had the same problem. The workaround is to rename
divxaf.ax to divxaf.bad

I hope that will solve your problem too.
