Move XP to a different SCSI card

2

2940U2W

My XP pro is on a SCSI-3(80MB/s) drive through the Adaptec
2940UW card(40MB/s). Now I got a faster Adaptec 2940U2W
card(80MB/s) and I want to move the system onto it without
re-installing everything, is it possible?

Thanks for your help.

Unselect the old in the BIOS,reconfigure the ability of booting to
the new RAID interface (enable),then open it after BIOS,press the
fix conflicts, then or before figure to boot to xp cd,press F6,install SCSI
drivers.You might then continue to recovery,type:CHKDSK C: /p or /R
Then EXIT when thru, reenter BIOS,set boot prefrence to SCSI set, exit,
let xp boot-up.

Don't understand what you are talking(anyway much thanks).
2940UW and 2940U2W are SCSI host cards, not RAID cards. XP
includes Adaptec's SCSI card driver already, we don't need
to press F6 to install driver from floppy while setup.

Below are what I did:
1) Add the 2940U2W card into the system, let XP install
the driver automatically, shutdown.
2) Disconnect the drive from 2940UW, then connect to the
new 2940U2W, power on.
3) Select proper SCSI ID so the drive can boot. Save and
Exit BIOS, restart.
3) Press F8 and select "Safe Mode", wait...

but the system still hangs:)
