Move to new hard drive

I copied my old XP pro info to a new WD 120 gig HD but
then the new drive won't start saying HAL error. How do
you get around the "security" feature and keep your
installed programs when moving up in HD size? I tried
running repair but of course XP won't give me that option
with the cloned drive. Anyway to fix it with recovery
console since it gives me that option? Thanks.

Hello

Start over, make sure you have all your data backed
up first, then doa clean install, at this point, really not
much you can do, before transfering data from one
drive to another a good idea is to backup your data

How did you "copy" the info? Using "copy"???

You will need to download the free hard drive "cloning" (coping) utiltity
from WD web site or purchase Norton Ghost.

WD comes with a clone tool. Unfortuntately the problem is
with XP authentication of the hardware once you clone the
data.

Not sure why you're not getting the 'Repair' option, but with the risk of
redundancy in case you've already tried it all, here's Michael Steven's site
on ''Repair Installs" ...
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm#warning2

If you're still not able to perform a 'repair', scroll down to the bottom of
the above site and read the section titled "Warning!! If the Repair Option
is not Available' and then click on the link to Charlie White's site
'WindowsXP Crashed'.
