Mouse Tap

I have a new Compaq Presario V4000 laptop. One of the things you can setup
is the mousepad under the keys. One of your choices is to disable the
mousepad so that when you tap on the pad it won't register on the screen, you
would then have to use the two mouse buttons under the mousepad for single
and double clicking. I set the mousepad to accept the tapping and don't like
it, I want to disable this feature but now I can't find it. When I go to
control panel and click on mouse it isn't there. It used to be labelled
Tapping or mose tap. Can't find it now. I'm assuming this is a Windows XP
function and not propriatary to Compaq. Does anybody know where to locate
this?

Agree this is a horrible arrangement, couldn't count the number of times I've
'done damage' simply through having to lift my finger momentarily on reaching
the limit of travel.

Anyway, I don't think you can turn of 'tapping' with the Windows driver, but
you can if the Synaptics driver is installed. HST I've known the Synaptics
driver to be troublesome on some computers (it is on my Acer) so I don't use
it.
