Mouse selecting active window without clicking

Otis

This feature was turned on and I can't find where to turn
it off. Normally with several windows restored down,
your mouse will not make a window active as you pass the
cursor over a window until you click to make the window
active. My mouse is automatically making windows active
by just passing the cursor over the window.

Thanks in advance for your help.

There are 2 places I can think of - if you are running
either TweakUI or Tweak XP Pro. In TweakUI there is an
option labelled "Mouse". Within this, another option
called "X-Mouse". Here, uncheck the option "Activation
follows mouse".

In Tweak XP Pro, it could differ depending on the
version, but for me (Version 2.0.9) it comes
under "Tricks & Tweaks". In here, there is a sub-option
named "Windows Tweaks II". From here, look
under "Miscellaneous Windows XP Tweaks II", then "Mouse
Tweaks". Uncheck the "Enable window tracking using your
mouse cursor" option.

Done!

You probably have set it using TweakUI - its Mouse - Xmouse page

If you do not have it and used some other way to make the settings, get
TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys from (if you have installed XP SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

If you have not installed SP1, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

TweakUI is where I found the fix for me. I have been looking all over for a
solution to this...finally! back to normal. Thanks
