Mouse hesitates momentarily after opening or closing applications

Greeting,

I am running XP Pro and recently noticed every time I switch between or open
and close applications, the mouse movement (the arrow) will hesitate for a
brief moment (like it sticks abit). The mouse is a wireless optical
intellimouse with the latest software and fresh batteries. This "jerkiness"
is especially noticable if I move the mouse around the screen when in a
search mode. My system is 2 computers on a KVM switch and the other machine
does not exibit this behavior using the same mouse. I have the latest virus
updates and no viruses detected during scan.

Any ideas.

TIA

You don't mention the brand of your kvm. I'm not sure how well kvm's
work in general with wireless mice, since I only use regular mice
myself with my kvm's (I have two Belkins). I would try a regular ps/2
mouse on your kvm. Also, has your kvm/mouse setup ever worked
correctly? If not, then perhaps your kvm isn't the best. Post back with
more details if you want more help.

The KVM switch is IOGEAR, and has worked perfectly in the past. I even
upgraded to the usb version about a month ago as the ps/s version did not
support wireless mice (wanted 1 keyboard and 1 mouse - not 2 mice and a
keyboard). This behavior just started about 2 weeks ago. The computer on
the other side of the switch works perfectly.

Well, that narrows it down a bit. What happened 2 weeks ago? Any driver
updates? Maybe Iogear has some tech support knowledge base on their
website. Since I've never owned a wireless mouse, I'm out of ideas but
maybe someone else will be able to help you.

Best of luck,
