Mouse Freezes

I am truly stumped over this one. My mouse has all of a sudden stopped
working (sort of). It works through the book process and the windows logon.
I can use the mouse to click on my name and windows continues to boot up. As
soon as windows begins and I see my desktop, my mouse freezes on the left
side of the screen. I can right click and get the menu but I cannot move it
right, left, up or down. When I boot into safe-mode, however, the mouse
works fine. I have tried system restore. I have also tried uninstalling and
reinstalling the mouse. None of this has worked. Please help.

I already tried a new mouse. I got the same results. I don't know what you
mean by clean booting. I see no errors in the device manager or in computer
management.

Clean booting is starting windows with no programs running and I don't mean
in safe mode. Click start | run type msconfig. Goto startup tab and remove
check marks from all items. Reboot and test. If it works you know one of
your programs is causing the lock upo. Resart a few at a time till you find
the culpret. If it still doesn't work try typing "sfc /scannow" in run box.
You will need your install CD. This will put right any errors in system
files and registry entries. Reboot and test.
