Mouse Button assignments don't work

B

Barry

I have a new Toshiba Portege R500 notebook running XP SP3. I have installed
Intellipoint 6.3 and am using a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical mouse (USB).

I want to set the mouse for left handed use and also make the wheel button a
double click.

I have set this all using the button assignments via Mouse in the control
panel but the changes do not work i.e. the mouse continues as though it is a
right hand set up with Click on the left button instead of the right (despite
being selected).

What gives?

Any thoughts on what I can do to fix?

Thanks

If you have a touchpad installed on the notebook, you may have to disable it
when running the MS mouse. I had that problem with an HP notebook I had. No
matter how I set the buttons on the mouse, the touchpad overrode them.
