Most games wont work, error message when started

when I try to play Midtown madness 2 for instance, i get
teh message "Midtown Madness 2 Executable has encountered
a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." I've tried uninstalling it, and re-
installing it, and nothing's worked. one day it just
stopped working. any help would be appretiated. thanks

Did you do any upates, install anything new, etc. about the time it stopped
working?
When you get that message, there should be something saying "More details" -
click that, and see what it says. It should tell you exactly where. Send
system information along with it.
