More space on my last carriage return?

Typing all the way to the bottom of the page results in about a 2 line carriage return, providing more open space to continue writing. As you keep writing it seems like you are always flirting with the bottom of the page. Is there a way to get Word to allow you to write all the way to the bottom of the visible page, but then to move your present, active, line all the way to the top, providing a mostly open page for further writing?

Not sure what you're getting at here. The factors controlling where the page
break falls and how the text is handled at the bottom of the page are:

- the bottom margin
- the Widows and Orphans setting (Format > Style : Paragraph)
- the Keep With Next setting (Format > Style : Paragraph)
- the contents of the footer and any footnotes
- the vertical justification setting (File > Page setup : Layout)

This all pertains to space at the bottom of the page (see
http://home.earthlink.net/~wordfaqs/BottomLine.htm), but I think the OP was
referring to space at the bottom of the *screen.* This varies with Word
versions (and perhaps operating systems or even display drivers) and AFAIK
can't be changed by the user. I personally would like to see Word space up
from the bottom when the text goes beyond the midway point. As it is, I'm
often typing on a line that is only half visible at the bottom of the screen
and have to scroll up manually.

Ahhhhhh!
Now it makes sense! I could not understand what the poster was writing
about! It seems he used the word "page" to mean both the document page and
the screen itself!
How do you do it? I mean this acute "between-the-lines" reading! ;-)

I think "visible page" was one clue, but I was also tuned into the problem
because I've experienced it myself. It seems to me that in Word 2.0/6.0 it
worked very well, and subsequent versions have been a step backward, but I
suspect that, like "runaway scrolling," it may be processor/system/OS
dependent. In any case, I've never received any encouragement to think it
was user-configurable, so I just consigned it to my box of things I refuse
to fret about because I can't do anything about them!

I wish I could consign it to my box of futile pursuits also; but I write 5000 to 15000 words per week and continuously seeing only half of the last line gets annoying. Oh well, thanks for your help.
