More on Windows XP Tool bars

Hello again .. I successfully created a new toolbar and have it at the top
of my screen, "always on top".

I would like to have the icons on the tool bar "auto fit", i.e. take up the
space required by the icon and to have the icon text description display
below the icon when the mouse pointer is over the area and not side by side
with the icon as it is now. I can't seem to find "Options" to allow me to
set an "auto fit" option etc.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Right-click and select to NOT display text (for the icon titles).
Make sure in the Properties of each under the General tab that you
enter a string that you want to see. Then when you hover over the
icon, the balloon will show that string you entered in the General
settings tab - except for URLs (like http: or mailto:). If your
shortcut is to http://domain.tld then that is what you see in the
balloon popup instead of the string under the General tab. To get
around this, have the shortcut run IE with the URL as a parameter;
i.e., the command would be something like ""C:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" <yourURL>". Since you are now running a
program instead of referencing a URL, the balloon will show whatever
is in the string under the General properties tab. You will now see
the balloon popups showing you the string that describes the icon
without having to waste space in the taskbar for the descriptive text
for each icon.

There is no auto-fit regarding size. All the icons (with optional
text) get left-aligned within horizontally oriented toolbars (screen
top or bottom) or top-aligned for vertically oriented toolbars (screen
sides).
