I notice when the egg timer is showing if I check in the Task Manager for
some reason DR Watson is now running. It occasssionally will tell me about
some problem and it wants to send a report. What good is that it doesn't
solve the problem !!!!

I would start by verifying the integrity of your system files.

Insert your Windows XP CD
Go to Start > Run and type
sfc /scannow (with XP CD inserted)
click OK

Thnx for advice but the sfc/ scannow doesn't want to work but the story so
far:
Firstly I deleted ALL system restores and re booted with system restore OFF
Then ran adaware, system clean
Then did Antivirus scan system clean
So where might I go from here?

You could also try booting in Safe Mode (press F8 a few times while XP is
booting). Then try normal mode again. This simple scenario has fixed strange
XP problems for me in the past.

Finally, I would at least consider performing an XP Repair Install.

Hello Michael,
Thnx again for the advice BUT after reading through the instructions on the
Michael Stevens XP repair I might leave well alone for the time being and try
to work my way around my problem. One slip up on the XP repair could cause
more than enough problems. However I have it all on disk to read in depth
later on.
Got rid of Dr Watson though. That was easy............ he says fingers
crossed. Will also try the F8 trick and will advise if it worked.
