Monitoring tool

Hi,

I'm looking for a monitoring tool that keeps an eye on the temperature
of my CPU (Athlon 64) and GPU (GeForce 6800).
It must give me a warning when a threshold has been reached and even
shut down my computer if things really get too hot.
This software does not have to be free.

I hope some of you can give some good suggestions.

What type of motherboard do you have?? Most motherboard manufacturers
have a program like this that is free.

But isn't it also dependant on the videocard?

Yeah most major makers have a cheapo utility that reads the temps but
not card temps. Theres are also free ones like Motherboard monitor
and SpeedFan - check them out. You can set it for temp warnings. With
SpeedFan you can even adjust the speed of the fans sometimes . Speed
fan can hang on some boards and MTM you have to look up or guess about
the sensor and settings if you dont find you MB listed.

The card -- Im trying to find that myself. Ive seen some people
mention various utils like riva tuner that works on some boards and
that it " it comes with the driver" which Im trying to look for.
Also some cards like MBs come with their own software that reads the
temps.

Asus has a monitoring tool for the CPU temperature.
And NVidia has drivers that can show and warn about the GPU temperature.
I just hope that there was a tool that combines these features and let
it shut down my computer too.
I will take a look at MTM and SpeedFan. Although I have no fans in my
computer :)

Have you tried this one ?

I don't keep track of the feature set, and the best
way to discover what features it has, is to install it.
It is an alternative to Asus Probe. It claims to be
able to access _some_ video cards.

SpeedFan seems to work pretty well for me for temps, but it doesn'
get my fan info correctly. It all depends on whether you
board/chipset is supported or not

I am happy with Intel Desktop Control Center and Intel Desktop Utilities so
I was sure other boards were so equipped. IDCC is configured and has a nice
GUI that has to be seen to be appreciated.
