Monitor problems

I have a Mag Innovision LCD monitor and it has not been working properly
lately. Sometimes when I turn on the computer the monitor goes on for a few
seconds and the whole screen goes black. I am pretty sure it is not in power
saving mode, since the LED light doesn't say that it is. The LED light is
green (which means it is on.) Then when you try to turn it back on it by
pushing the power button, the image will appear for a few seconds and then
disappear again. If I repeat this process many times the image will
eventually stay on.

The monitor is only 2-3 yrs old. Has anyone had this happen before? Does
this sound like the monitor is going or a problem with my computer? Does
anyone have an idea on how to find out what is wrong with this monitor or the
computer? Thanks in advance.

First thing...
Try the monitor on another PC. Or try another monitor on your PC. If it
works, then the problem lies elsewhere, perhaps with the video card.

The symptoms match behavior of a failing monitor power supply. This usually
occurs due to failing capacitors. (There was a very large group of bad
capacitors from more than one source that caused/is causing problems.) The
capicators cause the power supply to not start properly, or to shutdown, due
to high inrush or capacitor leakage during operation.
This can occur on both internal and external power supplies.
