My fiends monitor just displays no signal when the computer is switched on.
Ive checked the monitor lead is connected both ends . Could it be anything
oter then a dodgy lead?

Connect the monitor to another computer to test it.
If it works, the problem is with the computer.

The monitor also has its own power connection (and, in some
instances, a power supply box) in addition to the signal cable.
Is the monitor getting power?
