MS Access 2000, Windows XP
======================
Greetings,

I've set up security for a database, but when I try to set the user/group
permissions, through Tools --> Security --> User and Group Permissions -->
Permissions, I do not get an option for "Module" or "Page" under Object Type.
Rest all objects (Database, Form, Table, Query, Report and Macro) are
available as options.

I've tried selecting different Users and Groups, but the same object types
are available, minus "Module" and "Page".

I've checked the ng for similar issue, but came up empty-handed.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Is this by design? If not, how to
correct this?

Thanks.

Hi, Amit.
Does anyone know why this is happening? Is this by design?

You're right. It's by design. Access 2000 introduced the separate VBA
Project for handling the code (notice the separate code window (VB Editor)
that's new since Access 97), so that it would match the model for the other
applications in the MS Office Suite. Both Modules and Data Access Pages
(which are external to the database file) are not handled by Jet security, so
there are no options to secure either of them in the Security dialog window.

While Access 97 could secure individual modules with Jet, Access 2000
introduced the VBA password, which could be used to "secure" the code, but it
applies to the entire VBA project, not separate modules. (And don't bother
trying to secure the code with this password. You'll be laughed at. Create
an MDE database file out of it if you want to hide the source code from
prying eyes.)

HTH.
