MMC 8.8 & TV Wonder Pro, no sound

Audigy sound card, external connection to TV Wonder Pro.

Sound comes in during initialization by choosing Line In, but as soon
as the initialization wizard closes and the TV screen comes on, no
more sound.

Sound works fine under 8.1, but the whole thing is very unstable and
crashes often upon exiting TV viewing. Thinking of trying 8.6 or 8.7
(?)

Video card is Radeon 9800 Pro.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

If you go here
http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/...=mm&prod=aiwWINXPdriver&submit.x=3&submit.y=6
and click on notes next to the MMC 8.8 download you will see an explanation
of a known issue with certain obscure (insert sarcasm) soundcards like the
Soundblaster Audigy. Of course its not ATI's fault and Creative has a
fix...... I personally have yet to find a set of Creative drivers that will
relieve the problem you just described. I reverted back to 8.2 Good luck.

Hmm looks like i didnt correctly read your post. My understanding now is
that you are running 8.1 but once you set the configuration it doesnt seem
to hold after you close the wizard. I have not experienced that however it
sounds similar to what happens to me running 8.8 with my Audigy sound card
except my MMC8.8 locks hard when closing the wizard after setting the sound.
For lack of better advice i would just try different settings in the wizard.
I found it works a couple different ways for me in version 8.2.

I see mention of the Creative "fix" on the ATI website, but cannot find it
on the Creative site.
Did you have any luck, Janet?

Googe is your friend :)

If you're talking about this

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;817589

which is mentioned on ATI's site at

http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4261.html

Then yes, I found it at this website:

http://www.tv-cards.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=2114&highlight=pentium+hyperthreading

3/4 down to the bottom of the page.

No, I'm talking about the note that Ed mentions above. If you go to the
NOTES on MMC8.8 at that URL and go to "Known Issues" there is a discussion
about Creative having prepared a special set of drivers for ATI users. I
can't find those anywhere on the Creative sites.
