MM2 error right when opening

Hi, MM2 gives me an error right when opening, and then just shuts down after
I send the bug report. The original problem started with occasional freezes
when I would drag and drop from a folder or import, but now has escalated to
an error right when I open it, after I tried to fix it on my own. I think I
did the wrong thing when I tried to fix it. I re-installed MM2 right over
the old one and then just ended up with duplicate copies of everything in
it's program folder, and then also just ended up with a bigger problem. I
tried Kelly's renaming, but it didn't fix my problem. Thank you for any
help.

MM2 has worked fine for me in the past. ( I system restored to before the
install-over, but was still left with the error when opening, it didn't go
back to it's condition of just freezing)
I have several other movie editing programs that work flawlessly and I am
wondering if maybe there could be some kind of conflict?

Hello there,

The indication then is that something in your present project is causing
the problem. This might be the use of an MPeg or MP3 file neither of which
work well in Movie Maker. I have also noted that some very old Jpeg stills
cause problems (or at least stills created with a now very out of date
editing program)

With regard to duplicate copies of files. If you have a file name appearing
twice in one directory then you have a serious problem with your file
system which if not attended too quickly could cause the loss of all of
your data and files etc.

Hi, I don't have a file naming problem. I guess I should have been clearer.
The duplicates have different names, for example the folder "shared" has a
duplicate named "shared(2)". It only applies to the folders. The actual
files on main level of MM's program folder only have one copy. Any folder
duplicated has a dif name. So there really isn't anything with the same
name. There are just copies with different names.

Also, there is no project going on in MM. I was able to clear everything out
before the error on start thing started happening. There aren't even any
collections listed.
