Mixed domain problems...

Hi,

I upgraded the PDC from NT4 to W2K Advanced Server.
I have 2 other NT4 servers ( BDCs)

After the upgrade, I cannot logon with the new format (
(e-mail address removed) ), only with the old ( x.y)
When I do a group policy, it's not working on ws-es.
Maybee the workstations are using the NT4 BDC-s to login?

How can I "ask them" to use the W2K server at logon time?

Levente,

What are your clients running? WIN9x? WINNT 4? WIN2000
Pro? WINXP Pro?

Have you made sure that DNS and WINS are both working
properly?

There is sometimes a problem when a WINNT 4 domain is
upgraded to WIN2000. Please take a look at the following
MS KB Article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-
US;298713

These next two MS KB Articles describe how WIN2000 and
WINXP Clients locate a Domain Controller:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-
us;247811

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;
[LN];314861

I would install the Support Tools on the WIN2000 Domain
Controller. The Support Tools can be located in two
places: on the WIN2000 Server CD in the Support | Tools
folder or on the WIN2000 Service Pack CD in the Support |
Tools folder. I would use the Service Pack CD if
possible. Run NETDIAG /FIX and DCDIAG /FIX and then run
DCDAIG /V. These two tools should help you out.

HTH,

Cary
