Missing text in dialog boxes.

I'm running win2k with service pack 4 and all critical
updates installed. But a lot of the dialog boxes that
various software generate on my system are not showing any
text in them. I'm seeing the action buttons and the text
in those buttons are visible, but in many cases, the other
text is gone. When I run my cursor over the programs in my
system tray I'm seeing a sliver of a yellow box rather the
actual name or other message that the program is supposed
to show. This is not affecting the rest of the operating
system's performance. And it does not affect any websites
that I visit unless they generate a dialog box. Programs
are launching and running normally, but this missing text
is bothering me, has anyone else had this problem and can
they help me figure out the problem??

My guess is there is a video adapter driver issue. Either the one you
have has been updated to an incorrect version or one of the updates is
interfering in some manner. I would attempt a reinstallation of the
driver or download an updated driver from the manufacturer andf install
that.
