Missing Swapfile resolved

Alex Soteros

For about a year now I've been attempting through help from here and from
Microsoft Support to resolve the following problem:

1. I can assign pagefile.sys to my second hard disk (D:) but,
2. It does not get recognized at bootup and a pagefile.sys gets created on
the C: disk.

This has been resolved so that it now is a minor irritatant. I've found that
the problem occurs only if I have secondary storage (IBM Electronic Key or a
Flashcard reader) plugged into the USB port at bootup. If I wait until after
signon to insert the USB connector and remove it prior to shutting down
there is no problem.

I believe that this is a bug in Windows XP.

Thanks for the tip.

This isn't surprising, and I haven't decided yet if I'd call it a bug.
Booting from USB minidrives isn't supported yet, and it's a good idea not to
have anything inserted that you can't boot from. It's better to wait until
Windows is loaded.

Booting from thumbdrives is coming, though.
