missing "show desktop" icon in quick launch

HiYa,

I am suddenly missing my "show desktop" icon and was absolutely lost without
it until I did a search in this forum and found Jason's alternative using MS
key+D, (THANKS!) so I can manage to live without the icon, but I'd really
like to have it back if anyone knows how.

I've searched the registry and the help and support files, but can find
nothing about the actual "show desktop" icon, just the quick launch tool bar
in general.

Thanks, and have a truly wonderful and blessed new year, everyone!

Try running the edit on Kelly's site, line 61, "Restore/Add Show Desktop
to Quick Launch Bar": http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Instructions for running the edit are at the top of the page.
