missing or damaged files

yesterday my computer improperly shut down due to a device
driver so i was told by microsoft-
(anyway it seems i have corrected the problem)
but i received a message saying recovery had completed but
that i may have missing or damaged files-
how do find the missing and repair the damaged?

I think the key word here is "may". If there's a problem, it will
likely make itself known quickly enough.

Try running sfc /scannow (put the WinXP CD in the drive first).
