after I had to reinstall XP....strangely alot my kids My Documents can be
found....and music....its seems that only MY "My Documents" is
missing....along with 20 gigabytes of my hard drive...

Any suggestions.....I know I cant just "Lose" 20 gigabytes....its gotta be
here somewhere right...and if it is my stuff may be also....I just cant
figure out how to get to it. I have found it a couple of times but "access
denied"....and besides....that wont get my hard drive space back.

Any help anyone!?

I really, really appreciate it.

Oh, and let me add that when I needed to reinstall 98 over itself it NEVER
took my stuff from me - otherwise I never would have done this....and my
"favories" on internet explorer are very missed also.

thanks.

If one performs a 'clean' installation of XP it will recreate the My
Documents folder as part of the installation process. Part of the 'clean'
installation is to reformat the drive, thus all files etc are lost.

If one wishes to 'reinstall' Windows in order to attempt to recover from a
user created problem then one uses the Rapair Installation option that will
leave all Application and User data useable once the Operating SYstem Files
are reinstated.

Pay close attention and read all the information displayed on the system
screens.
