missing information bubble

Appologies if this has already been answered but I've looked everywhere and
can't find an answer.
I have lost the 'information bubble' that appears on the taskbar when, for
instance you go to 'safely remove hardware' there is a 'pop' sound and a
'bubble' appears saying that is is safe to remove drive X. That is just an
example but I get the same symptom with everthing like that. I get the sound
but no text.
I don't remember when this happened and I can't remember it happening
before. I am running XP SP2. Please can someone help.

See if this helps:

Suggestions:

1. Go to Start/All Programs: Hover over any program listed, right click
and select Sort by Name. Repeat once more.

2. Right-click the Taskbar/Properties, uncheck: Keep the taskbar on top of
other windows, apply/ok... Revert.

Here are a couple of options that you might want to try.

1. Download and install TweakUI from Microsoft. TweakUI is available here.

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Direct Download of TweakUI
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once the program is installed, go to Start -> All Programs -> Powertoys for
Windows XP -> TweakUI.
In TweakUI, click on Taskbar and Start Menu.
In the right hand pane, put a check mark in the box next to "Enable balloon
tips".
Click OK.

2. Run the script on line 11, left hand column from this web site.
