Missing hard drive

I installed Vista Ultimate on my drive 0:
I had backed EVERYTHING up on drive 1: which was partitioned into 3 drives.

Good install, but now drive 1: is missing along with the 3 partitions that
were on the drive.

Mind you drive 1: is a separate hard drive and I did not format it.
the only drive that was formated with a clean install was drive 0:

how do I recover from this?

Is the drive shown in Device Manager? If so delete and reboot.
Check your System/Motherboard maker for any HD Drivers
and/or Bios Updates.

If not check your cable connections.

I did what you said, and it did nothing.
I changed it to a dynamic disk, and I got the first partition back but none
of the others. What a nightmare.

Use fdisk and start again.

I dont understand. FDISK will kill the partitions and make new ones not
restore them. Or am I wrong about this?

Have you looked around in "Disk Management" to see what's there?
Right click "Computer" Left click "Manage" Left click "Disk Management".

I did and nothing....So I ended up buying "Data Doctor Recovery". I used it
and still could not get my files...
So I deleted the one partition on the hard drive that i did get back and ran
the program again. this time I got 6 partitions. 3 of them were what I was
looking for.
I have spent the last 16 hours using it to recover the files that I needed.

VISTA HAS GOTTEN OFF ON THE WRONG FOOT WITH ME....

I bought the software from Migo..Recover Lost Data....What junk... It
wouldnt recover crap for me....I wasted my money.
But this other one i got has worked all day and been successful....

If you ever figure out exactly what happened post back.
BTW what back up software did you use for the initial backup? My Acronis
True Image Home 10 sees my first hard drive C: as drive 1. Next is drive 2.
There is no drive 0 in Acronis vocabulary.
