Missing Graphics

Guest

Upon opening some web sites, some e-mail messages in Yahoo Mail, and in
e-mail messages when I use Outlook, certain graphics are missing and
relplaced by a little red square with an x in the middle. Does anyone know
how can I change the settings so I can see all the graphics in both IE and
Outlook? Thank you for any and all help.
I am using IE 6.0 and Outlook 6.0

Hi jlinder1 :)

Try working through the following and see if it helps:

Try clearing the IE cache. I.E./Tools/Options/General/Delete files (and
delete offline content.)

and.....

Zone Alarm Pro can block Images in IE -

1. Go into IE>Tools>Internet Options>Security>Custom level>reset custom
level to Medium or Low
2. Go into IE>Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>set the slider to Medium or Low
3. Go to this site and read on adjusting the Privacy settings in ZA. It will
explain how to customize on a per site basis.

Cannot see or save Images/Pictures Fuzzy Text and fuzzy web graphics

Perhaps your ISP compresses images to reduce download time. Ones's such as
Earthlink, AOL,
Netzero and a few others have this option. You may be able to disable it by
checking your ISP Help files.

also.

Change the DPI setting from Large to Normal and see if that helps.

To restore the default file association, go to

Download, unzip and merge the REG file, "JPE/JPG/JPEG Association Fix"
Some image/graphics programs will change file associations.

or.......................

Right click on the graphic you see and a pop up menu should appear. Select
"Show Picture" option.

Then, go to Internet Options>Advanced Tab
Show Pictures - check option if
unchecked to display pictures all the time.

Can't View Some Graphics on IE/AOL

If you have Norton Personal Firewall or some other ad-blocking software or
popup stoppers installed, try disabling this type of software temporarily to
see whether this could be the problem. Many of these programs block
Javascript, which is often used to pop up login windows and create rollover
graphics. Norton Security, for example, is known to block any image that
originates from another server (advertisement images usually do), and I'm
guessing it also blocks at least some Javascript.

Set the following -

Under Security
Java Medium
Display mixed content-prompt is checked

Under Scripting
Scripting of Java applets
Is set to Enable

Privacy settings are medium

Check if your encoding setting in IE. To do this, click on View / Encoding,
and make sure Western European is selected.

Jan Il- Wow, thank you for the very detailed and thorough response. I will
have to read through this slowly and carefully to make sure I understand all
that you have suggested. Chances are, something will work. Again, thanks.
