Missing File Specification

I'm getting a sporadic problem with Access XP telling me that a named file
specification doesn't exist when I try to link a fixed width text file into
my database. When trying to run a piece of code I am getting an error message
that tells me that the import/export specification does not exist. For 18
months the DoCmd.TransferText statement in my VBA code worked, then it just
stopped. When it stopped, some machines couldn't link the file manually
either. You would go through the wizard, click Advanced, click Specs...,
chose the specification and ok back to the wizard, complete the wizard then
get the error message. The other day, my machine would run the code, but my
collegues machine wouldn't. On another day, my machine won't run the code
either. I've tried a compact and repair of the database and that didn't cure
the problem.

I do have an alternate way of achieving the same result, but it really bugs
me that it 'just stopped working'. Has anybody got any ideas about how I can
fix the problem?

Thanks

You might try deletingt the original specification and rebuild it -- may
have become corrupted. Also you can try importing all objects into a new
database; when you do this, be sure to select the "options" button in the
wizard that lets you choose the objects so that you'll also be able to check
that you want to import the specifications too.
