Missing & damaged files

after carrying out a disc scan & virus check I haqve been informed that I
have a number of damaged or missing files. How do I rectifiy the problem? How
do I find/replace windows xp OS files that are lost/damaged?

Hi

From Start>Run type or copy/paste the following:

sfc /scannow

Please note the space between the c and /. You may need to have your XP CD
to hand.

Thank's. I had ago & windows carried out a check on some files, then nothing happened. Is that normal or sholud have i recieved a message/report of some sort? By the way, the only CD i have is from the vendor (Toshiba) its a recovery disc which i dont want to use as it will remove all my programes etc.
