Minolta DSE 5400 and Windows Vista

I'm a Minolta DSE 5400 user currently under Windows XP. Can anyone tell me
if there's any likelihood of this scanner ever working under Windows Vista?
I'm assuming Minolta won't produce updated drivers, but might it work 'out
of the box' with Vista? Does Vuescan actually need the Minolta drivers to
control the scanner? Has anyone tried to use this scanner with Vista?

HP says the 5470/5490 will not have vista drivers, but I installed the
XP drivers under vista and it seems to work just fine after I gave it
"run as administrator" permission. I'd try it before giving up.

I've found that by not buying the Vista hoax software I have no issues
at all.
