minlogon+hibernate problem

G

George

I make a image with minlogon and with hibernate function.
After FBA, I install the display driver and sound driver, reboot, then enable
the hibernate function. But when i shut down the computer by the hibernate,
nothing happened.
I have add the "Disk Dump Drivers" component already. Why i still can not
use the hibernate function? Do i need any other components?

If i make a image with winlogon and with hibernate function, the hibernate
function works ok.

Hi George,

You should have image based on ACPI hal. All drivers installed and working. "Dump driver".
You probably know that.

Try using standby if it is working then hibernate should work as well.

BTW:
What error do you see?
Also are you using EWF?

Slobodan,
Hi George,
You should have image based on ACPI hal.

Are you sure about that? I thought that having ACPI compatible BIOS is
enough and hibernate/stadby Windows feature would work there with "Standard
PC" HAL as well as with ACPI HAL. All you have to do is to enable
hibernation support on the HAL component's settings page (+ "Dump driver",
of course).

Enabling hibernation support turns out to just change a flag (6th byte) in
"Heuristics" binary value under
"HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power" key.

Konstantin,

Are you sure about that?
Not 100% since I might not had all drivers that support suspend mode when I tested it. I can't tell now for sure.

Thanks for your and konstantin's answers. :)

What was it?

If it is working on your winlogon build then it is not problem related to hardware (at least we know that).
You won't need to use APCI HAL then.

BTW: As far as I can remember I used successfully hibernation with minlogon. (No extra settings was required.)

Are you using same image or you are using two separate projects?
Try replacing winlogon with minlogon in your working image for start. In this way you will know at least that all files and drivers
are present in both builds.

I mean install this QFE and try the Minlogon only image (don't add additional Winlogon stuff).

George

I use Stand PC hal and add the "disk dump driver",
and install all the drivers correctly,
and chech the registry the key
"Heuristics" binary value under
"HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power" also changed.

If i use explorer shell+winlogon, it works ok, so i think my hardware
support the hibernate function.
I still don't know why the image with minlogon cann't work with the
hibernate.
And i will try the ACPI Hal later. :)

Now the hibernate function can work correctly with the minlogon image, it's
a so terrible bug. -_-bbb

Thanks very much~!!!

And i also try the ACPI hal, the hibernate function also don't work.
I will try to replace the winlogon with minlogon of the Winlogon image build
before.

I replace the minlogon+command shell with winlogon+explorer shell,then the
hibernate function can work correctly.

BTW: the "Power Meter Control Panel" component don't effect the hibernate
function, it only set the hibernate flag in the registry right?

I'm glad that this is working for you.

I must say that I'm puzzled I was able to use hibernation with old minlogon. I wish I new how.
