Minimum Requirements

Helllo Gamers,

My Game machine is a Dell 2400 Server, it has dual 766 pIII chips in it. A
new 24 bit sound card, and new 128 MB video card w/ dx 9.0b , and 1 GB of
memory.

My problem is many new games require an 800 Mhz processor or a 1 Ghz proc or
more!!

Does anyone know if these games will work on my Dual 766 PIII Processor?????

Thanks, I dont want to spend my $$$ if they wont work.

They probably won't, if you've got two CPUs, assume you've got one as pretty
much no games will use the second processor.

The games will be slow and jerky.
The games requirement are usally minimun requirements so anything less than
what is called out for will degrade game play.

For all intents you're running a PIII at 766Mz (one chip) as far as games
are concerned.

I still run a similar setup (64 me ATI 7200, no hardware S&L) as a second pc
for in-house multiplayer gaming. You'll find a surprising number of games
still work very well, with amount of tradeoff in resoultion and/or graphics
quality depending more upon the "speed of the game", e,.g. NFSU runs at
800x600 with most eye candy enabled, Delta Force series runs very well at
1024x768, MOA runs ok, each later "version" causing greater strain, forget
UT2004 as even UT2003 was streching it, can't run Richard Burns Rally,
NFS-U2. Your system has presumably a faster video card and also more ram so
I'd expect to have no problems with many.

However to keep things fair playing against buddies in-house I basically
restrict the older PC to games like Colin MaCrea Rally 2, UT (original),
GPL, NFS-Porsche Unleashed and keep many slightly older games on it, e.g.
ONI, NOX, FF8, Mortal Combatvarious "hunting and fishing" games. System runs
them all with no stuttering etc. so "winner" doesn't depend on pc being
used, e.g. PIII versus PIV.
