minimizing a window

Guest

when clicking on the minimize symbol the window closes, or at least it
vanishes altogether. This happens with all windows in all applications and
there is nothing in the task bar to retrieve it. Since this has started to
happen the language bar has also appeared in the task bar. When I close the
language bar the entire task bar vanishes. Anyone know what I have done to
cause this?? I can live with it but it is a real pain in the butt.

Programs Aren't Minimized in the Taskbar (Line 240)

On the left "under Tweaks"

The links are working for me.

Refresh IE when you get the "Page cannot be displayed" sometimes that works for me.

Doesn't seem to work.. thanks anyway.

Any idea what's causing the windows disappear?

I guess the only solution is system restore - I'm trying to avoid it
since it's not my computer I'm dealing with.

Beside the Good Advice by TaurArian, try to scan for malwares and clear your
caches , offline files and delete cookies.
If you have any other Toolbars installed also can cause this to you, try
Disabling them.
Disable the Plug-ins to do that try this:
Click Tools >> Internet Options >> Programs Tab and there click on Manag
Add-Ons and Disable the suspecious ones and then while on the IE Properties
Window click on General Tab and on Settings Button and there resize your TIF
size on your Disk to 50-80 MBs by using/Sliding the selector to the desired
size.
Reboot your machine and see if you could Access the link (s) which you
haven't before able to access.
HTH.
Please let us now.

Thanks, I'll try that.
Only next week though, when the owner of the computer gets back.

Just verifying - the problem is that I can't view the running programs
- not any inaccessable links.

BTW Is there any risk in disabling add-ons or erasing the TIF?

There are no risks in disabling add-ons - if you find that there is a problem you can
always re-enable them.
Clearing the Temporary Internet Cache - no problems.
I clear mine out quite frequently .
