Minimized Program Icons Gone on Taskbar

Hi,

this happened now the second time to me. The first time it happened on
my mother's latptop, which is a WinXPHome/SP2. The second time it
happened today on my computer which is a WinXPPro/SP2.

I had some program crash (today it was UT2004) and after logging out and
back in the part of the taskbar, which shows the minimized windows has
disappeared. All else is still there (Quickstart, Virtual Desktops,
Search, Trayicons, etc.) I tried removing any from the taskbar and
adding the stuff back, still no luck. I did not install any new software
these days, but had Adobe update to current AcrobatReader. I am very
well secured.

There is a KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;139727 which
describes the same problem, as it seems, but I do not have any Xerox
software installed. Since this was a startup-folder entry and some "Make
it easier" type of software, I assumed, that it may be, that Adobe uses
the same software for the AcrobatReader Quickstart utility, they placed
into my startup-folder. Hence I removed it. No luck either.

I found no solution on the web. I tried removing the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current
Version\Explorer\StuckRects2 key.

I checked for Friends Greetings Sacm as outlined in a post from 2002
here: http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/win98/t1036987252

I do not want to reinstall Windows. That is not a solution. I have
collected and applied just too many custom tweaks over the years, not to
talk about all the stuff written to the registry over the years.

Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you.
