Migrating from an NT4 network to Win2K, with WinXP workstations. The Win2K
domain is separate from the NT4 domain.
I've also enabled WINS, DHCP and DNS on the Win2K server, disabled them on
the NT4 PDC. (I also have migrated Win9x workstations out there, but don't
think they are the problem).
All but one of my workstations joined the Win2K domain with no problem.
Their login goes pretty quickly and they accept the login script and
printers I'm pushing.
One workstation has a very peculiar login sequence:
1. Power on workstation to Ctl-Alt-Del screen.
2. Ctl-Alt-Del opens login window.
3. Enter login credentials to Win2K domain and press enter.
4. Login window stays on the screen - greyed out - for over a minute, then
login takes place.
5. Login script DOESN'T process, or at least drive mappings don't show up,
life is bad.
Now, here's the really strange part:
1. Ctl-Alt-Del and select Logout
2. Confirm selection, closes connections, presents login screen.
3. Enter login credentials and press enter.
4. Login goes very fast, login script processes, drive mappings available,
life is good!
QUESTION - WHAT IS CAUSING THIS?? I would guess that it's not contacting
the Win2K domain controller during the power-up sequesnce.
TIA for your help!
