Microsoft's Spell Checker or Dictionary software

Hi Folks

I am looking for a standalone copy of Microsoft's Spell Checker or Dictionary software. Does anyone know its exact name and if it is distributed separately? Any idea on what to search for or where to download it? I'd like to install it to enable the spell checker function in Microsoft Outlook Express for Windows XP. I realize that the reason the spell checker function is "greyed out" is because it relies upon the Spell Checker or Dictionary software from a Microsoft Windows XP ancillary program; one that is part of Microsoft Office like Word

While I have a copy of Microsoft Works Suite 2000, it was not designed for Microsoft Windows XP and actually complements the Microsoft Windows 98 SE system. Moreover, when I purchased the computer, I opted instead for the Corel WordPerfect and Quattro productivity packs instead of paying extra for Microsoft Office. Therefore, I'd rather not install any old programs unless absolutely necessary

It seems like such a small program. I'm not sure why Microsoft wouldn't distribute it separately. Does anyone have any information to resolve my query

Thanks

Doug;
Maybe this isn't what you asked, but....
I'm using Microsoft Works Suite 2000 on my machine with XP Home.
I have no more than the usual problems. Works Suite 2000 includes MS Word.
And the Spell Checker works with OE, which I'm also using right now.

Works Suite 2000 wasn't designed for XP because XP wasn't out at the time
Works Suite 2000 came out

Thanks to everyone who responded, Wesley, Michael, and Bud.

I may install Microsoft Works Suite 2000 just for the spell checking software; however, I'm hoping that's not necessary. Do you know if the spell checking software can be extracted from the Microsoft Works Suite 2000 and copied directly to my hard drive? If so, what files should be copied and to where?

Similarly, are there any official Microsoft Spell installers out there?

Cheers,
Doug

Doug,
Check the link labeled Don't have Office, Word, etc. from the web page
below. It is a stand alone spelling application that enables spell checking.

I missed the link completely. I feel incredibly stupid. The
installation program for it seemed like it wasn't the official
Microsoft Spell software, but I guess that's because someone created
their own installer for the software. My apologies for missing the
link.

Thanks, Michael! This is what I needed. Just one more question, do
you know what version the spell checker software's dictionary is? Is
it fairly recent?

Cheers,
Doug

Your are welcome.
Haven't a clue, but when you install, from the application look in Help for
a link to updates. Most spell check application have a means to update or
add words to the dictionary.
