Microsoft XP License Agreement

I installed windows xp (fress start) and everything
worked fine. Installed Microsofts critial updates and
then restarted the computer. After logging into the
computer about 3-4 times the computer kept restarting
before it reached the log in screen. Finialy I started
in Safe mode and did a system restore and it allowed me
to log in only two times. On the second time I got an
error saying that the license agrreement is wrong or
invalid or something to that effect. I'm assuming that
since I did the update that my Product Id is not valid.
I have used this Id before with no problems and it came
straight out of the box unopened. So as of right now I
can not get into the computer I'm looked out totaly. Any
suggestions??????

Well if you installed it fresh and had problems so soon why don't you start
over?
You said you've used this Product ID before without any problems?
Is it an OEM disk or a retail disk and is it currently installed on any
other computers?
If it is OEM then it can't be trandfered and/or used on any other computer
than the one it came with or the first one it was installed on depending on
where you got it.
If it is retail it can only be on one computer at one time unless you
purchased a separate Product Key.

If it is a legitimate install then format and reinstall again since you have
no data oss to worry about and go from there.

Kelly All I did was go to Microsofts update page right
after installing XP, and downloaded the Critial Updates
and Service packs. After doing this I restarted the
computer and then I started having problems.

Hi Aaron,

I can appreciate that; however, most copies of WinXP that aren't from the
full cut (let's say), this is normal behavior once trying to use Windows
Update.

Am trying to rule that part out for you, before making any other
suggestions. And please note, that this may not even be related. It is
just the first issue that needs to be addressed.

Was it like, "A problem is preventing windows from accurately checking the
license for this computer," then you've may been stung by the one of a few
different types of licensing check errors.

Like the rest of MS's code, MS's copy-protection code is flawed, but unlike
the rest of MS's code, it is purposely coded to lock you out of your
computer when it fails. Copy-protection is an anti-consumer technology
designed to protect the copy of copyrighted material from the paying
customer. A consumers best defense against future problems froms flaws in
the copy-protection of the greedy-assed corporate copyright owners is not to
buy or use any copy of copyrighted material that is copy-protected from you,
the paying customer. When corporations find out it costs them more money to
copy-protect their goods for sale to consumers, then they'll start treating
their customers with the respect they deserve.
