Word Microsoft Word checkbox color change when checked

Hello,

I have a Word document that serves as an advising sheet for students. I would like for the checkbox to change color when it is selected---for example, the box turns red when it's selected, and goes back to it's default color when unselected. I've looked for coding help all over the internet and I tried to figure this vba coding stuff out, but I'm having problems and I'm sure I'm not doing it right. Keep in mind, I know basically nothing about Vba code and I'm basically learning on the fly. I am running Word 2013. I really appreciate any help that can be provided. Thanks.
