Microsoft Word 2007

How do I save a document using a different file name? I must be able to make
versions of the same document. With my previous word documents I was able to
do a "save as" and change the name. I can't find this anywhere on my
"updated" version (word 2007).

Did you try clicking on the Office button in the upper left corner?

Click the Office button (sometimes referred to as the "pizza" button) on the
top left of the screen. Then click Save As.
