microsoft word 2002 and vista

Recently microsoft word 2002 is found to be open/launched when I log in to
the computer. It does this by itself. I close it and later it will be open
again.

I have a new Gateway PC with Vista Premium on it and it worked fine for
several months. I suspect that some automatic update caused this, but even
after using system restore to before XX dates, word 2002 still opens by
itself.

Cannot find any reason for this nor any such questions/similar issues on the
internet or other forums.

Any suggestions?

Do you mean you close Word 2002 and then later, all by itself, it suddenly
opens, or do you mean the next time it boots it appears? Is Word 2002 even
installed?

Download and run Autoruns from MS to see if you can pinpoint where it's
loading from.

Rock,
I mean that after Word is closed, it will open up by itself sometime later,
usually after I log off. When re-opened, especially the next day - Word is
open to a blank document window.

Since it reopens mostly after overnight, I suspect it has something to do
with autoupdating of programs, updates, etc.
