Microsoft takes on the free world

I read up on it a bit more and it just sounds like they are pooling
together their system admin tools and adding some consolidation and
improvements. I noticed they included SMS. I still run an ancient SMS
2.0 system at work, LOL. :)

They've expanded since then. They are gearing everything toward reporting.
For example we now have a single machine that houses SQL2005 which holds
data for WSUS 3.0, Forefront and System Center Essentials. The two later
apps use MOM as an agent for reporting data. One agent gives you everything
you need. Simply add a new management pack to MOM and BAM! You're
receiving new info on whatever has the agent.

The end result is if I deploy a Forefront policy to a machine (in my case do
nothing but setup a new machine), the forefront client installs on it.
After about an hour of that machine being on the floor I have reports that
tell me what's installed, what updates it needs, what does it need in
general, is it secure, what's wrong with it....

In addition, every day I receive an email (from which I can drill down into)
that tells me what is going on with my entire network. Where the problems
are and what's going on. The amount of info is so massive I'm still fine
tuning the reporting.

A perfect example is an issue I addressed today. Even though malware has a
hard time installing on my machines there can still be an attempt. The
average person probably thinks "So what? An attempt is no big deal, don't
bother me until something actually installs". Wouldn't that be too little
too late? Well, this report tells me that John Doe has attempted to install
malware at a high rate. I can pull up a report on just him that shows me a
history (so far way back to beginning, not sure how far it will go in total)
and I can see that his machine is attempting to install various "baddies" on
a regular basis. It was time to have a talk with Mr. Doe and explain safe
browsing techniques. He's only going to be "so lucky" for so long before
his time runs out.

Also, what the heck was he doing at all these sites while he should be
working? Employees at my company get a warning from me first. Then I email
supervisors if the problem persists. I find I'm more well received via that
route.

That article in NO WAY backs up your claim. Just more weasel words from
alias.

YES, it does. MS is scared sh*tless of Open Source. As this story
unfolds, you may understand but I seriously doubt it.

False or lie, take your pick.

alias lives in the land of half truths.

I for one want to know who has more than one liver! Is it siamese twins?

Thanks, good info to have. I hate the policing part of my job, but
unfortunately where I work it's a necessary evil.

Now you claim MS is GOING to be scared poopless? Which is it? They are now
or they WILL BE once the story unfolds?

Also, explain how a corporate identity has poop in the first place.

Are you for real?

Yup, I know people that drink beer on a regular basis and they have no
typical beer belly so ONCE AGAIN FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME your generalized
statements are complete BS.
How many livers do you have, Justin?

Take a guess. My Grandfather drank beer up until the day he died from
hearth failure so ONCE AGAIN FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME your generalized
statements are complete BS.

Are you for real?

Um...yeah..you have no proof that beer makes a person post crap so ONCE
AGAIN FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME your generalized statements are complete BS.
You've never been in a bar?

Yes I have however a BAR is not the only place people drink beer so ONCE
AGAIN FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME your generalized statements are complete BS.
Justin doesn't know that a name should be capitalized.

Now that's funny. How long have you been responding to my posts? I've done
that since day one with you. Also with others, BUT not with everyone. Can
you figure it out?

Also, alias is not your name.

Well, I was able to understand what alias was saying and took it for that.
But now he want us to believe that he just generally telling us we only have
one liver and it had NOTHING to do with the fact that liquor "can" destroy
your liver.

However the bottom line is that a beer a day doesn't have to equate to
someone dying from liver failure.
I for one want to know who has more than one liver! Is it siamese twins?

Yes, that to.

No, I think they've been afraid for some time now, as evidenced by the
strong arming of Novell last year.

AH! The truth comes out!!!!

alias says - "I think"

Like I said, you have nothing but your opinion. No facts.

No, you misunderstand (again). I wrote, and I quote, "As this story
unfolds, *you* may understand but I seriously doubt it".

You missed two important words: "As" and "you". This story has been
unfolding for some time and still has more to come. YOU don't get it.

Trust me, I got it. We all understand, all to well, that you are full of
it.

First you don't understand metaphors and now you don't know what idioms
are. Is English your first language?

HAHAHAHA!!!!

That's hardly "a beer a day".

You're right. Drinking beer for a day is MUCH MUCH MUCH less then a beer a
day.

There's nothing to debate. You have no clue how "Microsoft" feels.

Actions speak louder than words. Why, pray tell, then is Microsoft
bringing up the patent issue with Open Source? And, if they're not
scared, why won't they say which patents they are talking about instead
of spreading FUD hoping to scare Linux users back into the Windows fold?

Again, when you're prepared to debate like an adult instead of a dolt,
let me know. Fact is, MS is dying and that really bothers you because
your living depends on it.
