Not a day goes past at PC Review without someone asking for help and advice for getting rid of spam, viruses or spyware. We are all aware of the immensity of this problem, yet even the most advanced user can fall victim.

Currently, Microsoft is sueing 13 groups of 'super-spammers' - people who use computers infected with their own spyware to send out spam messages (often containing spyware) to millions of other computers. The groups are still using online aliases, and so cannot be named as of yet, but Microsoft is hoping to gain a court order which will force them to reveal themselves.

Microsoft discovered the extent of the problem by allowing a computer to become infected with the spyware, and then monitoring the activity that followed. Shockingly, it sent over 18 million pieces of spyware and spam to 5 million different web users.

Since these 'zombie computers' are responsible for around half of all spam (according to Microsoft), stopping more of these super-spammers could drastically reduce internet spamming.
