Microsoft SideWinder Precision 2 Assignement`s?

Ive got a Microsoft Precision 2 Joystick pluged into a USB port on my
computer DELL XPS 600, Microsoft Windows XP, Media Center Edition Version
2002, Servoce Pack 2.
Ive got a Soaring Fligth Simulator. Joystick is calibrated but, its
absolutlety impossibel to assign som Buttons or Functions. I got always the
Message : "Beim Ausführen von Shell32.dll, Control_RunDLL joy.cpl ist eine
Ausname aufgetreten "

Short story is that it's advanced features are not supported in the
generic drivers and the Windows 98 drivers can't be used.

Not entirely true Bob. Yes the drivers that came with the device aren't
designed for Windows XP, but an updated version of that driver was shipped
with the OS, and if absolutly needed the old drivers on the CD will still
work with some minor issues. The drivers for the old first generation
devices are the ones that will never work in WinXP because they use the old
..vxd driver format. The key mapping configuration that came on the disk with
the device can still be installed and works fine on Windows XP. The error
during install was added because the device shipped before Windows XP was
finished so was a precautionary message.

The error message here, although I don't speak that language looks
suspiciously like the message you will get if you attempt to run the
keymapping software under a non-Administrator account. LouRive, try logging
in as an Administrator and see if you get the same error.
