Microsoft Product activation

Hi,

Have had XP home on my Dell Desktop for about a year and
a half now. Had been pretty stable so far. An hour ago, I
restarted it, and now it wont let me log on. It gives me
a Windows Product Activation message that reads " A
problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking
the license for this computer. Error code 0X80090006".
I know enough to hit F8 and go into Safe mode - I am able
to do that. But dont know what to do next!! I have a lot
of important stuff on my computer. Any help?
Thanks

Possible Resolution:

Go to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 regwizc.dll , and hit enter.
Then go again to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 licdll.dll , and hit enter again.

Apparently, and I can't say how, the above files became unregistered.
