microsoft outlook 2003 send/receive error

My father asked me to fix his Outlook account for him, and I have no idea how
to, as I use only browser email accounts.

When I hit the send/receive button, I get the error message that would come
up when my internet is down, (0x8000CCC90) but my internet is working great.
I have tried sending him an email from my yahoo account, and sending my yahoo
account an email from his outlook account, but neither message shows up. This
is his work email account and he needs it back as soon as possible, but none
of the FAQ's seem to help. I cannot make a new account as he would not
understand it, he needs this specific account. I've tried restarting the
computer and unplugging the internet.

- Outlook version
- account type (POP/SMTP, IMAP)
- correct error code (0x8000CCC90 is too long/invalid)

Where would I find the outlook version? I know the acccount type is POP/SMTP,
and the error message reads as follows;

"Task'mail.dptexas.net (shooter)-Sending and Receiving' reported error
(0x800CCC90): "Your incoming (POP3) e-mail servcer has reported an internal
error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server
administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responderd: -ERR
Server busy. Try Later..."

I do not understand this, as it is obvious that my internet is in great
working condition.

This is beyond a doubt a server problem and not an Outlook problem. The POP
server is telling Outlook to come back later because it's too busy to answer
right now.

Do you actiually think that browsing the Internet uses a POP server for
everything? If so, try to understand a little how the Internet works. Web
protocols are not mail protocols are not news protocols are not file transfer
protocols. Every function uses different types of servers. A mail server can
be inoprerative at the same time that a web server is functioning perfectly.

Part of the message you quoted in your second post was "If you continue
to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet
service provider (ISP)." That's what you will have to do.

The mail server 'mail.dptexas.net' does respond to ping, but it may not
be responding to mail clients. You still haven't told us the Outlook
version.
