Microsoft Outlook 2002 hangs when opening email

I have imported all of my mail into Outlook from Outlook Express and
using AVG as a virus scanner. I have updated, compressed, searched the
net and done everything that I can think of to fix the problem.

When I start Outlook, it takes a while to start. I can access
everything (calendar, tasks, notes, etc...). When I open the email
inbox and select an item to read, Outlook hangs. I have tried turning
off the use of Word as the editor, Word for .rtf files, updating AVG
with the Outlook extention, but still it hangs. I have tried starting
and stopping Word, repairing the MS Office with the CD, downloading and
applying any Office or XP updates.

It was working fine for a while yesterday but now it is back again and
I can't open anything.

I am running MS Windows XP Professional with SP2 and MS Office 2002
with SP3.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I may have found the solution to the problem. I got a hint from another
posting.

I am running Winfax Pro also. In Outlook, I looked at the following:

Tools -> Options -> Mail Setup -> Data files

in this I had listed in addition to the normal "Archive folders" and
"Personal folders" a Winfax log entry. I deleted this entry from here
and things seemed to start working.
I will post again if that was not it.
