Microsoft Office Access has stopped

D

Dean Slindee

I built a new PC with Windows Vista Business, (later upgraded to Enterprise
(SP1)) and copied all the folders containing
Access 2003 data projects to the new PC.
The old PC also had Windows Vista Enterprise (SP1) and Windows Office 2003
SP2.

On the new PC, I am able to launch each Access 2003 .adp, and perform the
type of activities that any user would perform.
However, in all cases, I am not able to perform tasks done by developers,
like: Make new .ade, Compact and Repair, Backup, etc.

I get the following error message: "Microsoft Office Access has stopped
working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I have: 1. Uninstalled Office 2003 and SP2 and reinstalled it, with no
change
2. Installed Office 2003 SP3, no change
3. Upgraded the Windows Vista Business to Windows Vista
Enterprise, no change

Anybody got any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Dean S

I recently ran into a problem creating MDEs in a database. Luckily it was a
copy (which I always use for making MDEs). The process would start and then
just hang. I'm guessing the cause was a corrupt database.

That might be your problem as well, unless it's a permissions issue when
trying to create a new file in the folder.

Umm, Aaron. Reread the posting. He specifically mentions he is
having problems with ADPs.

Maybe your advice should have been "SQL Server isn't reliable. Move to Jet if
you care about your data." because the poster wrote that the database
application was .ade.

Please learn to read... if you look around, you'll find that many welfare
and educational organizations in your area offer basic reading courses for
the illiterate. Often they are free or inexpensive.

We hope that you can find someone to read this advice to you.
