Microsoft Mail on Win2000 Server

Currently I have Microsoft Mail Postoffice running on my
NT4 server for about 20 client users on the LAN. It's used
to send e-mails within the office. If I upgrade this
server to become a Win2000 domain controller, will MS Mail
still work? According to MS KB 258211, Microsoft Mail is
not Y2K compliant even though it also mentions about how
to place the icon in Win2000 Control Panel. Is there an
alternative of MS Mail that comes with Win2000 server
without spending an arm and a leg on a system like
Exchange? Thanks for all input.

MS Mail was dropped from W2K, but you can call MS support for it. I
don't know what will happen if you upgrade a machine w/ an MS Mail
Postoffice already on it. I'm sure it will continue to function (since
it's not client server, so there is no server component you need to
worry about after the upgrade), and you should be able to continue to
manage the PO from NT4 clients, but if you upgrade all machines to W2K,
you will definitely have to call MS if you want to continue managing the
PO.
