installing it on previous PCs (which also runn XP HE). Anyone have any ideas?

VBRUN100.DLL is the runtime for visual basic, and a fairly old version. It's
likely not present on your system.
http://www.2think.org/dll/vbrun.shtml Is a possible source for various
vbrun vesions.

That is a very old software package. It may not work with Windows XP. The
missing file is the run time libraries for Visual Basic 1.0. Try a Google
search for many places to download the file.

The file is there. The error mesage says it could not open it. I
downloaded a new 'vbrun100.ddl' file from the net and substituted it for the
one on the disc, but it made no difference. I can't figure out why it can't
read/open it.

I have the file on the game pack disc. For some reason the setup can't read
or open it. I don't know if a newer version (vbrun200.dll, 300.dll??) can
substitute for the original.

No, they can't be used. They are version specific. You need
vbrun100.dll for Visual Basic 1 programs, vbrun200.dll for Visual
Basic 2 programs, etc.

The vbrun100.dll file is one of the software files on the Entertainment Pack
disk. I tried putting the file in Windows/System folder; no go.

Re: "Please reply to the newsgroup" I'm new to user groups. I just hit
reply. Is there something else I should be doing?

Try it in \windows\system32. No guarantee it will work, though.
Such an old program might not work in Windows XP.

You're using the Microsoft web interface to post here, and
hitting Reply apparently posts to the newsgroup (unlike Outlook
Express, for example, where "Reply" sends a personal E-mail).
That's fine; I was just asking you not to try to send me a
personal E-mail message (my return address isn't a real one).

By the way, you might want to consider *not* using the web
interface--it's the slowest, clunkiest, most error-prone method
there is. Do yourself a favor and switch to a newsreader, such as
Outlook Express, which comes with Windows.

Is the error listed in the first post vebatim.
"Could Not Open the File named: C:VBRUN100.DLL.

IE it says above and not (look before the V)
"Could Not Open the File named: C:\VBRUN100.DLL.

Where exactly are all these files. If you type in Start Run
cmd /k path

what does it say? (right click title bar to mark then copy text - note this is not the windows way of selecting but old dos way)
