Microsoft Automatic Update Disabled My Excel. Why?

I have Excel 2000. Bought it, paid for it and am happy with it. I turned on
automatic updates. Now when I try to open an excel file, the Microsoft Office
2003 installer comes up and says it's trying to install "Microsoft Office
Small Business Edition 2003." AND it's asking me for a key to enter. I don't
have Office 2003, so I don't have any key to enter. I tried entering the key
for Excel 2000, but it didn't like it. Now I can't open my Excel files!!! How
do I disable this update and get back my old Excel 2000 ??????

Thanks!

After I posted this I noticed the following: If I try to open an excel file
by double clicking thru windows explorer, then the new Excel comes up asking
me for the key info. However, if I open up the OLD excel 2000, it does open
up. Once in the old excel, I can then open up the excel spreadsheet.

So, it appears that the automatic installer has associated the xls files
with the new excel. I've changed it to associate it with the old excel.

Also, this means that I have 2 excels, one ver 2000 and another one a 2003
trial version. At least the installer didn't get rid of my 2000 version.
